A few weekends ago, Chris and I had the pleasure of attending a wedding in Bald Head Island, NC. If you haven't been before (we hadn't), it's a gorgeous island that's just a short ferry ride away from Southport. The pace on the island is a bit slower; golf carts, bikes, and your own two feet are the best way to get around.
Here's a little backstory. I met the Rebecca, the beautiful bride, while in middle school in Richmond, VA. We became even better friends in high school as our two friend groups merged. Below is a picture of us as babies before our senior prom! Post-high school, we went our separate ways to college at Virginia Tech and Duke. Nearly seven years laters, we both found ourselves in Charlotte, NC.
Tyler and Rebecca were dating already when I moved to Charlotte with Chris. It was so nice to have them in town as built-in friends. Even though Tyler went to UVA (our in-state rival), he somehow won us over. Like many brides, she had the big things checked off (invites, save the dates, programs), but was unsure of how to make the rest of the day-of signage come together. I gladly volunteered to help bridge the gap. Together we devised a plan to create all the day-of signage she was looking for.
At the entrance to the chapel, we planned to place a hand-painted wooden sign. Her wedding style didn't really lend to a stained wood sign, so we decided to white-wash some grey shiplap. I love how you can see hints of the grain below the paint.
After the ceremony in the adorable chapel, we golf carted over to the Shoal's Club. Below are some of the other signs on display at the reception.
For their guest book, they asked everyone to sign a book of Bald Head Island photography. I loved this idea. I'm sure it will be on their coffee table for years to come!
I also loved this idea! Many venues will not allow you to use sparklers. Rose petals are such a pretty alternative.
It was such a honor to be a part of Rebecca and Tyler's day. I'm so glad we were there to see them say "I do" and we can't wait to return to Bald Head Island. Welcome to the Kara Anne + Co family, you guys!
